Track Brand Mentions in Perplexity and ChatGPT

Yogoo AI asks ChatGPT and Perplexity the questions buyers in your market ask every day, and counts the answers that name your business or link to your site. Most teams only know how to monitor brand mentions in ChatGPT and Perplexity by typing prompts in by hand and reading what comes back. That gives you one answer, and the next one can come back different. Yogoo AI does the asking for you, so you can track mentions in Perplexity and ChatGPT without the manual checking, and it counts every answer it’s collected for your market over the last 28 days.

What do you see for ChatGPT and Perplexity?

ChatGPT and Perplexity each get their own line on your page, with the counts written out. Once 28 days of answers are in, a ChatGPT line reads like "named or linked in 12 of 160 answers (7.5%)", so you can see how many answers sit behind the percentage. Under your score, you’ll also see the full rivals table with competitor names, and a sample of the questions buyers in your market ask AI.

Your lines show from the first answer Yogoo AI collects. Until 28 days of answers are in, the page marks them "Still collecting", and the number of answers behind them keeps climbing.

What’s free, and what do paid plans add?

Everything above is free for every business in a measured market. Paid plans add more trackers and pinned competitors, and they show each engine’s latest answer to your market’s questions. Yogoo AI asks your market’s questions every day, whatever plan you’re on. A paid plan changes how often your dashboard refreshes its view, monthly on Free and Basic and weekly on Pro and above, not how often answers are collected. Your counts and your score don’t change with your plan. The pricing page lists what each plan includes.

How does Yogoo AI check ChatGPT and Perplexity?

Your market gets a fixed set of questions. That’s about 20 buyer questions, written the way someone would type them into an AI assistant, like "which SEO companies in California should I shortlist?" Once the set is built, it stays the same.

Yogoo AI asks your market’s questions every day, spread out so each question reaches each engine twice a week. Over 28 days, that’s about eight answers per question from ChatGPT and about eight from Perplexity.

Each answer gets read for your name and your link. An answer counts if it names your business in the text or links to your site. Either one is a mention.

Why do ChatGPT and Perplexity get separate lines?

They handle sources differently. In Yogoo AI’s 500-prompt study, collected on 10 and 11 August 2026, Perplexity cited at least one source in all 1,738 of its answers. ChatGPT, tested as GPT-4o-mini + web search (API), cited a source in 35.5% of its 1,740 answers. One line for both would hide that gap, so each engine keeps its own line beside your score.

The split matters most for Perplexity brand monitoring. Perplexity linked sources in every answer in the study, so a link to your site can count even when the answer never says your name. There’s more on that in how Perplexity citations work.

How to track mentions in Perplexity

Open your Perplexity line. It counts every Perplexity answer that names your business or links to your site, written out like “named or linked in 9 of 160 answers (5.6%)”. If Perplexity didn’t name or link you, you’ll see 0.0% with its counts, like “0 of 160 answers”. That’s a real measurement, not a gap in the data.

How to know if ChatGPT mentions your brand

Open your ChatGPT line. If ChatGPT named or linked you in any of the answers Yogoo AI collected, the count says how many. If it didn’t, you’ll see 0.0% with its counts, like "0 of 160 answers". That zero is a real measurement: ChatGPT answered your market’s questions and didn’t name or link you.

ChatGPT can’t link a page it can’t read. If you haven’t checked yet, it takes five minutes to see whether ChatGPT can read your website.

Questions people ask

Is a missing answer the same as a zero?

No. If Yogoo AI couldn’t collect an answer from ChatGPT or Perplexity, your page says so and leaves that answer out of the count. A failed collection never counts against you. Google AI Overviews works differently: if a Google search showed no AI Overview, that’s a real zero, because Google answered and didn’t name you.

How do you see change over time?

Compare two dated windows, like the 28 days ending 1 November 2026 against the 28 days ending 29 November 2026, each with its own counts. Two single days don’t tell you anything.

What if your market isn’t measured yet?

Your page shows your counts, says "We don’t measure this market yet", and gives you a Find my market button. Yogoo AI hasn’t measured your market yet, so there’s nothing to compare your counts against. That says nothing about your business, and nothing you’ve done or haven’t done put it there.

Does Yogoo AI track ChatGPT and Perplexity mentions in real time?

No. Yogoo AI asks your market’s questions every day and adds each answer to your counts as it’s collected. One live answer is a single draw, and the next one can come back different, so your lines count every answer from the last 28 days instead.

Where does this fit with the other engines?

Yogoo AI measures up to five engines: ChatGPT, Claude, Perplexity, Gemini, and Google AI Overviews. Not every market runs all five, and your page only shows the engines your market runs, each on its own line. Together they make up your Yogoo Score.

ChatGPT and Perplexity monitoring sits alongside Google AI Overview tracking in Yogoo AI’s AI visibility tracking features. If you want the full method, how Yogoo AI measures AI visibility walks through it step by step, and how to track AI mentions of your brand covers the wider picture across engines.
